Al-Hasakah Governor to a delegation from WHO: The need to focus on supporting the health sector inside the city

On March 28thGovernor of Hasakah Ghassan Khalil met with a delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO) headed by the Director of the organization’s office in Syria, Dr. Akjamal Makhtumova

Governor Khalil stressed the need to focus on the health sector within the city of Hasaka and not be satisfied with supporting the camps in order to cover the needs of the displaced and the local community. 

 

Governor Khalil referred to the multiple services provided by the Health Directorate over the entire geographical area of the governorate, calling on the organization’s delegation to be effective in restoring the National Hospital in Hasaka from the SDF militias and working to neutralize health facilities and sectors as they provide essential services to citizens. 

Governor Khalil indicated the importance of continuing full cooperation and coordination, especially with regard to the Covid 19 vaccine, stressing that the governorate is ready to provide everything necessary to facilitate the work of the WHO team

Governor Khalil called for transforming the emergency center in the city center into an emergency hospital and support it with medical equipment and supplies. 

For her part, Makhtumova indicated the continuation of providing support to the health sector in the governorate of Hasakah, meeting the necessary needs, and providing support to the Modern Medical Center in the center of Al-Hasakah, as it provides great services to citizens.

Al-Hasakah Health Director Dr. Issa Khalaf called for increasing the health support, especially with regard to the issue of vaccination campaigns, working to secure chronic medicines and antibiotics, and focusing on priority quality medicines for citizens. 

For his part, the Director of Social Affairs and Labor Ibrahim Khalaf called for the necessity of working to support charities in the city, especially the active charities which have headquarters that can be used.
