DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Syrian people have decided to implement the proposed political program to solve the crisis in Syria, being the only way out, and to confront the global military, economic, media and political war against their country, underscored Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Tuesday.
Al-Halqi was speaking during a meeting with Mukhtar Lamani, the Director of the Office of the UN Envoy to Syria.
The premier referred to Syria’s agreement to attend the international Conference on Syria scheduled to be held in Geneva without preconditions.
“The Syrian government is open to international initiatives which help ending the crisis, but without any dictates or preconditions from foreign parties,” al-Halqi stressed.
“The Syrian people, with their deeply-rooted history, their secular and open-minded thinking and their moderate and tolerant Islam, are very keen on their national unity and social cohesion. They will never allow any party or country in the world to interfere in the their internal affairs,” al-Halqi said.
He briefed Lamani on the damage caused to the Syrians and their national economy as a result of the armed terrorist groups acts and the unjust economic war on Syria, but stressed the Syrian people’s determination to withstand the challenges, referring in this respect to the military victories attained by the Syrian Arab Army in parallel with the plenty of procedures adopted by the government to protect the country’s economy.
Al-Halqi regretted some countries’ support to terrorism by training, financing and sending terrorist and takfiri groups and mercenaries to Syria to commit crimes against the Syrians.
The Premier urged Damascus visitors to convey the real image of what is actually going on in Syria without fabrications and distortion of facts, stressing that the Syrian government will continue to fight terrorism and won’t cede an inch of its land.
He highly appreciated the support of Syria’s real friends in the world and asserted that the real image began to become clearer to the entire world to stress that Syria is fighting terrorism on behalf of all the world.
For his part, Lamani affirmed that solution to the crisis will be political, reiterating his rejection to the terrorist acts being perpetrated by the armed groups, mercenaries and takfiris against the Syrian people and state.
He hailed the Syrian government’s role in providing the basic needs and services to all Syrians without exceptions.
