DAMASCUS, (ST)-Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi has asserted that the US, Western states and “Israel” use of lies and false pretenses such as the use of chemical weapons for military intervention in Syria are the upshot of the Syrians’ steadfastness and the victories of the Syrian Army over terrorism despite the unlimited financial, military, political and media support offered to the terrorist groups. .
Receiving members of the People’s Assembly representing the provinces of Raqqa, Aleppo and Hasaka on Wednesday, al-Halqi renewed his trust that Syria will get out of the crisis stronger than before and will confront the west’s accusations of using chemical weapons. He pointed out that the world recollects very well the lies, false pretenses and hoodwinking of the international public opinion of these countries prior to the invasion of Iraq in a bid to justify their colonial aspirations.
Al-Halqi spelled out that the countries who are beating the drums of war against Syria are the same ones who committed massacres in Iraq, Lebanon and other countries, exploited the Arab people’s resources, and perpetrated heinous carnages against the Palestinian people since 1948 until now.
The Prime Minister said that the US and “Israel” are the ones who breed terrorism and Al Qaeda in the world, and that “Jabhat al-Nusra!” and other terrorist groups are utilized as tools by Washington and Israel in the region to execute their plots to keep the Arab people preoccupied with internal conflicts to squelch their progress.
The Premier said that Syria is the land of civilization and history and will ultimately become the graveyard of any invader. Syria will not be terrorized by colonial sabre-rattling asserting that the Syrian people are leading their normal life and are well- prepared for all challenges and eventualities.
Al-Halqi underlined the importance of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities to boost Syria’s ability to remain steadfast, confront challenges and ensure citizens’ needs, affirming the government’s efforts to provide citizens’ needs across the country in concert with restoring security and stability.
The meeting dealt with the status of services, living conditions and development in the aforementioned provinces, means for providing citizens’ staples of wheat, flour, seeds, petroleum products, electricity, communications and drinking water.
Members of the People’s Assembly appreciated the government’s efforts in confronting the war being waged on Syria, beefing up capabilities of the national economy and improving living conditions and services.
