Al-Halqi in Tehran to Discuss Expanding Syrian-Iranian Cooperation

TEHRAN,(ST)_ Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi started today a several-day visit to Iran leading an official delegation.

According to the Cabinet Press Office, the premier will hold talks with senior Iranian officials aiming to expand cooperation between the two countries in all domains.

Upon his arrival at the International Mehr Abad Airport in Tehran, al-Halqi said that the visit comes within the framework of the booming Syrian-Iranian cooperation in all fields.  

“The visit aims at opening up new horizons of bilateral cooperation that meet the aspirations of the two countries’ peoples and enhance the Syrian people’s steadfastness in facing the economic war which targets its capabilities,” he added.

The premier, in addition, underscored that the growing role of the resistances axis in the region and unity between the Syrian people and army foiled the western plots that seek to fragment the region and pillage its wealth.

He thanked the people and the leadership of Iran and mainly the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani for standing by the Syrian people in confronting the unfair global war on Syria.

United efforts

Al-Halqi stressed that counterterrorism necessitates united efforts by all world countries and international organizations and preventing certain countries from offering financial, logistic and military support to terrorists.

“Syrian people will go ahead with fighting terrorism in parallel with enhancing national unity through dialogue among Syrians without foreign intervention,” he declared.

The Syrian delegation in composed of  Ministers of Electricity, Industry, Oil and Mineral Resources and Health, Governor of  Central Bank of Syria (CBS) and Chairperson of the International Cooperation and Planning Commission, as well as a number of general directors.
