Al-Halqi Highlights Amelioration of service and development projects in Lattakia

Damascus, (ST)-By the  directives of President Bashar Al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Thursday laid the foundation stones of a number of vital development projects in the province of Lattakia at a cost of SYP. 4 billion.

The projects included the inauguration of Al-Kabo power station at a total value of SYP 1.4 billion and laid the foundation stone of the Youth Residence at an estimate of SYP. 2.4 billion.

Dr. al-Halqi toured the halls and departments of the Martyr Basel Al-Assad International Airport and called for improving the services offered to passengers at a value totaling SYP 150 million.

He also inspected the situation and production in Jableh mill, textile companies in Lattakia, marble, granite, and metal companies in the governorate, in addition to the site which was rehabilitated to establish 13 sewing workshops in the free zone which will contribute to provide 400 new job opportunities at a total cost of SYP. 30 million.

In statements to journalists, al-Halqi said that his tour comes in the context of communication with citizens where he inspected the service and development projects.

“The first phase is to expand the Martyr Basel al-Assad airport that will be carried out within six months, which is considered as “an emergency phase in comport with the growing number of passengers.” The total cost of the project is estimated at SYP. 500 billion”, al,Halqi said.

The Premier Al-Halqi underlined the role of the private sector in developing national economy, meeting the demands of the internal market and ensuring job opportunities.

Al-Halqi re-confirmed the governorate’s efforts in fostering the private sector relying on symbiotic participation in building the country.

Meeting with economic, social and party activities and department heads in the governorate, the PM outlined the government’s efforts to realize a comprehensive development in all Syrian governorates through laying down programs and plans to begin the phase of building and construction.

Al-Halqi outline the additional burdens that the governorate is shouldering through receiving large number of displaced people from all provinces.

The Premier highlighted the government’s keenness to ensure the requirements of the Syrian people and to attach great importance to the martyrs families and the injured.

Dr. al-Halqi ordered the concerned to allocate SYP 1.7 billion for Lattakia governorate to foster the developmental services.
