Al-Halaqi meets Russia’s Ambassador in Damascus over bilateral ties

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi and Russia’s Ambassador in Damascus Azmatullah Kulmohamedov have tackled ways of developing bilateral economic relations and ensuring Syrian people’s basic needs.

Today’s discussion comes a few days after the premier concluded an official visit to Tehran during which several deals were signed in different sectors to expand cooperation between the two states.

Repeatedly, Al-Halaqi underscores that only Syrians, national companies and real friends  will take part in reconstruction process in Syria.

He has invited the Russian companies and businessmen to set up investment, development and services projects in Syria, especially in the stage of reconstruction.

Russian leadership and people stand by Syria in confronting the terrorist war and unfair economic siege imposed on it.

Two days ago, a Russian aircraft loaded with 25 tons of humanitarian aid arrived in Lattakia.

Steadfastness

The aid, which was a gift from the Russian people and government to the Syrian people, contained canned meat and fish, sugar and infants food, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted the premier as saying during his today meeting with the Russian Ambassador that  Syria highly appreciates the Russian leadership and people’s support for Syrian people through sending basic needs and offering  humanitarian aid.

“The people in Syria is steadfast and insists on defeating terrorism. Unless the people’s understanding for economic situation and challenges that face the government, Syria cannot be steadfast and it cannot achieve successive victories,” al-Halaqi said.

On his part, the Russian Ambassador asserted that his country is keen to support Syrian people and leadership at all levels and to take part in reconstruction process as well as to make the political dialogue successful.
