Al-Dahhak: Washington’s repeated use of veto power aims at paralyzing the Security Council

Syria condemned in the strongest terms the United States’ repeated use of veto to paralyze the Security Council and prevent it from assuming its responsibilities, stressing its rejection of the pretexts Washington uses to defend the Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinian people in blatant disregard for the will of the peoples and countries of the world, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported

During a UN General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Qusay al-Dahhak said that “the UN General Assembly meets today to express its stance on the United States’ use of veto against a draft resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip, with the aim of protecting Israel, providing it with immunity, and enabling it to continue crimes against humanity, and genocide committed against the Palestinian people without fear of accountability or punishment”.

He stressed Syria’s permanent support for the brotherly Palestinian people in their struggle to liberate their occupied land and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Syria condemns attempts to target UNRWA, calls on donor countries to resume funds

Moreover, Al-Dahhak went on to say that Syria condemns the attempts to target the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to serve Israel’s agenda which aims at liquidating the right to return and the Palestinian issue. He added that Syria also calls on donor countries that suspended their funding to UNRAW to resume donations.

“The Israeli brutal aggression and the genocide war continue against the Palestinians and the 5-month huge humanitarian suffering in Gaza is now escalated by the occupation’s attempts to liquidate UNRWA,” al-Dahhak, explained.

He added that Syria calls on the donor countries to resume their funding to the international agency immediately in order to provide sufficient resources and basic needs to the Palestinians.
