Al-Dahhak: Security Council must act to stop the Israeli aggression to spare the region a devastating war

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Qusay Al-Dahhak, during a Security Council session on Wednesday, said “We would not have reached the current critical situation today if the Council had stopped the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the countries of the region, in implementation of the Council’s responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.”

It is unacceptable for the Security Council’s reaction to be limited to holding sessions without adopting deterrent action against the Israeli entity.

He noted the US unlimited support to the Israeli occupation which protects it from accountability and punishment, pointing out that preventing the Security Council from stopping the Israeli attacks is pushing the situation in the region towards a comprehensive war.

He explained that the occupation launched a barbaric bombing campaign on Lebanon and deliberately mobilized its forces in preparation for a ground invasion of south Lebanon following its heinous aggression that claimed the life of Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

He added that Syria reaffirms its support to the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples and it will spare no effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese despite the grave challenges resulting from the blockade and illegal coercive measures.
