Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus received today medical aid, including breathing, oxygen generation, and mobile x-ray equipment, provided by the Chinese Embassy in Damascus.
The aid, included 3 x-ray machines, 4 respirators, and 7 oxygen concentrators. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim highlighted the distinguished relations with China and the scientific and cultural agreements signed between the Syrian and Chinese universities. He referred to the Ministry’s plan and vision to implement these programs and agreements, whether through increasing scientific scholarships in addition to sending training cadres or participating in scientific conferences.
In turn, the Chinese ambassador to Damascus, Shi Hongwei, stated that this grant was agreed upon last year to provide health care for the hospital, and that his country is very interested in developing the relationship between the two countries and supporting Syrian efforts for reconstruction and providing aid as much as possible. He indicated that the Syrian-Chinese relationship is historic and distinguished, Syria is one of the first countries to establish notable diplomatic relations with China, which has witnessed rapid development in all fields.
For his part, Rector of the University of Damascus, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, underlined the importance of developing distinguished relations between Syrian and Chinese universities, noting that there are ideas being discussed with China to teach the Chinese language at the Higher Institute of Languages and a plan to prepare a library of Chinese literature at the university.
For his part, Director of Al-Assad University Hospital, Dr. Nizar Abbas, thanked the previous and current assistance provided by China to the hospital, which helped raise the level of medical service.
