Al-Araji: Iraq’s Official Position is to Respect the Will of the Syrian People and the Unity of Its Territory

Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, affirmed that Syria is a brotherly Arab country with which Iraq shares a common border.

He emphasized that Iraq’s official stance is to respect the will of the Syrian people and uphold the unity of Syrian territory.

Regarding the participation of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in the upcoming Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Baghdad next May, Al-Araji said “The matter is up to the Iraqi government. Iraq has sought from the beginning to reinstate Syria in the Arab League.”

He added ” We do not want any Arab country to be excluded or to suffer from sanctions because Iraq itself has been a victim of such sanctions. Therefore, we understand the suffering of nations and we strive to support them”

In a television interview, Al-Araji pointed out that Baghdad is safe and assured that Iraq would not extend an invitation to any figure unless it is capable of ensuring their protection.
