Occupied Jerusalem (ST) : Palestinian captive Maher al-Akhras today suspended his hunger strike which lasted for 103 days after the subjugation of the Israeli occupation authorities to his demands and his release due to his strong determination and insistence to resist occupation.
The Palestinian Captive Club said in a statement that an agreement was reached stipulating that the occupation authorities release Al-Akhras on November 26th on condition that al-Akhras spends the period preceding his release in hospital to receive appropriate treatment.
Al-Akhras extended deep thanks to the Palestinian people and to all Arab and Palestinian legal organizations that supported him during his hunger strike.
Al-Akhras, 49 years, has been subject to arrest by the occupation authorities several times since 1989, the most recent was on July 27, 2020. Since then, he has been suffering from various health problems including high pressure and cardiac problems that might damage his kidneys, liver and lungs.
