Akl Sheikhdom of the Druze Unitarian Community: Israeli Attacks and Foreign Interventions Destabilize Syria
The Sheikhdom of the Unitarian Muslim Community condemned the repeated Israeli attacks and all forms of foreign interference in Syria’s affairs aimed at destabilizing its security and stability. They affirmed their endeavor, in cooperation with all parties, to restore security and safety to all areas that witnessed unfortunate events in the Damascus Countryside and As-Sweida governorates, stressing their rejection and denunciation of incitement and the stirring up of conflict among the united Syrian people.
In a statement to SANA reporter, His Eminence Sheikh Akl of the Unitarian Muslim Community Yusuf Jarbou’ said: We condemn the Israeli aggression and condemn foreign interventions and aggressions in all their forms. As a basic component, we consider the attacks to be an external interference and a violation of the national sovereignty for which the Syrians have paid with blood.
His Eminence, Sheikh Akl of the Unitarian Muslim Community, Hamoud al-Hanawi, stressed that aggression on the homeland is reprehensible, and no citizen can accept or allow it.
He stressed the importance of the state intervening to impose security, in order to prevent these encroachments and sectarian fighting, reach a ceasefire, and deter violators who offend safe citizens.
In this context, the two sheikhs highlighted the efforts exerted to facilitate and accelerate the process of restoring security and stability, where a meeting was held a few days ago, during which a set of provisions were agreed upon aimed at a ceasefire in all areas and restoring security and stability to the governorate in cooperation with the Syrian authorities.
Regarding this agreement, His Eminence Sheikh Jarbou’ said: “Several provisions have been agreed upon, and work is currently underway to implement them. Among these provisions is the agreement that the Public Security Forces will be exclusively from the people of As-Sweida Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and under the supervision of a delegate from them.”
In turn, His Eminence Sheikh Al-Hinawi pointed out that the agreement provides for the activation of the role of the Ministry of Interior and the judicial police in the province from the people of the province, as its provisions were accepted by officials, and they promised to implement them.
Sheikh Jarbou’ called for the formation of fact-finding committees to investigate the events that took place in the Damascus countryside and on the outskirts of As-Sweida. Sheikh al-Hanawi, considered it necessary and imperative to conduct investigations and hold people accountable, to put an end to such violations, and to prevent their recurrence in the future, because the rights, dignity, blood, property, and privacy of Syrian citizens must be protected.
