Agriculture Minister discusses with the UNDP representative cooperation to establish projects that support rural development
Damascus (ST): The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Qatna, discussed with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program Sudipto Mukerji, ways of cooperation in the agricultural field and rural development.
Minister Qatna pointed to the importance of developing relations with the Program in line with the current reality, especially in light of climatic changes and their impact on agriculture and the population, stressing that the ministry is working to enhance cooperation to serve rural families and achieve sustainable development, especially for families affected by the terrorist war on Syria and the conditions of drought.
Minister Qatna reviewed the results of the agricultural sector development forum held by the ministry, where 65 projects were prepared that could be the focus of cooperation with Organizationswhich can then be implemented thus ensuring access to the largest number of beneficiaries.
For his part, Mukerji stressed support for all efforts that implement sustainable projects and achieve food security, and that the agricultural sector is the basis for reaching recovery, highlighting the importance of developing strategies to adapt to climate changes and their impact on this sector, increasing the efficiency of water and energy use, combating desertification, and choosing appropriate crops.
