The Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Daraa province conducted 87 studies and agricultural experiments during the current farming season on wheat, barley, chickpeas, and lentils at the Izraa and Jalin stations.
The center aimes to develop high-yield varieties that surpass the locally approved ones.
Dr. Asmaa Abdel Jalil, head of the center, told SANA today that the center, through its Crop Research Department, has fully implemented its plan for the current season.
She noted that the agricultural sector is facing significant challenges this season, including drought and a decline in rainfall.
The Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Daraa oversees five stations, including two for field crop research in Izraa and Jalin. However, the other three stations—located in Al-Samaqiyat, Al-Muzayrib, and Al-Yadoudeh—have been damaged due to shelling by the former regime.
All these stations operate under the General Commission for Agricultural Scientific Research within the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
