Agricultural investment and product exchange  the focus of Qatna’s meeting with an Omani delegation

Damascus (ST): The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatna, discussed with a delegation from the Investment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman headed by Talal bin Issa Al-Harassi, Senior Director of Economic Diversification Investments in the Authority, the development of cooperation in the fields of agricultural investment and the exchange of products and experiences between the two countries.

During the meeting held today in the Ministry’s building, Minister Qatna underlined the importance of developing Syrian-Omani relations in all fields, especially with regard to the agricultural sector, and achieving integration in the exchange of products to achieve food security, pointing out that work is underway to prepare an executive program for a joint agreement with the Omani Ministry of Agriculture.

Qatna reviewed the agricultural investment opportunities and projects offered by the ministry in the Syrian Investment Authority and the facilities and preferential benefits it provides, pointing to the importance of the Sultanate of Oman joining the quadruple agreement that included the ministers of agriculture in Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon.

Qatna said in a statement to reporters that issues of trade exchange, food or processed agricultural products, livestock and their products were discussed to supply the Omani market with Syrian agricultural products and benefit from Omani products such as fish, dates, fertilizers and others to meet the needs of the two countries.

For his part, Al-Harassi confirmed that the investment projects that can be implemented will be studied based on the opportunities that were presented during the meeting with the Omani Investment Authority and a group of Omani businessmen, pointing out that the “Syrian-Omani Business Council” and the “Omani-Syrian Business Council” will discuss the investment opportunities that were presented.
