Agricultural cooperation between Syria and Lebanon discussed

Ways to enhance cooperation in the agricultural field to secure improved seeding, forest and fruit-bearing plants were discussed by Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qatna, Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan.

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the qudrilateral meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan, Qatna affirmed the ministry’s readiness to cooperate and send technical teams specialized in breeding better seeds and the establishment for increasing the quantities of wheat seeds produced in Lebanon.

Qatana pointed to the possibility of providing Lebanon with improved seeds after the improved varieties are registered and provided.

Hajj Hassan noted the possibility of holding meetings to discuss the issue of transit in order to reach positive results on the agricultural sector.

He pointed out that the signed memo establishes a base for joint and integrated Arab action between the four countries and that it could expand for other Arab countries.
