Agreement with Customs Union to be Signed

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hayan Suleiman revealed that ” an application to join the Shanghai Organization as well as the orientation of the signing of an agreement with the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and the seek to deepen the relationship of barter exchange of goods with friendly countries.”

These measures, Dr. Suleiman said in a statement, will contribute to the activation of economic relations, improve the trade balance, increase Syrian exports and ensure necessary imports, especially from countries that have proved their credibility with Syrian during the current crisis.

“New business councils will be announced soon after the formation of business councils for a number of countries that included Russia, Iran, China, Belarus, Ukraine and Armenia as well as the formation of the Exporters Association, explaining that the business councils would open new marketing opportunities and contribute to the development of commercial business between Syria and these countries,” Dr. Suleiman noted.

“The government has decided to activate installations, small and medium enterprises that make up 60 percent of the national economy, transferring a part of those installations to safe areas to restore the cycle of economy as it was earlier,” he pointed out.

Dr. Salman said: “we look forward soon reassuring economic facts and the evidence that most of the commodity is present in the market,” pointing out that the Syrian industrialists have begun to return to their country after providing facilities by the government and that the reconstruction phase began at the hands of Syrian funds and in cooperation with friends.
