After the Israeli aggression against UNIFIL… India Calls for Respect for the Inviolability of UN Peacekeepers

India condemned the Israeli aggression against the international peacekeeping forces of the United Nations “UNIFIL” in southern Lebanon.

“We are concerned about the deteriorating security situation in southern Lebanon and along the border and continue to monitor the situation closely,” the Indian government said in a statement today, stressing that “the immunity  of UN premises should be respected and appropriate measures should be taken to ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers and the sanctity of their mandate”.

UNIFIL is known to include Indian troops serving within the Lebanon-Zionist entity border protection units.

In another context, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the international community today to stop supplying “Israel” with weapons.

“I think there is an urgent need, in light of what is happening in the Middle East, for the international community to stop exporting weapons to the Israeli government,” Sanchez told reporters after a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, as quoted by AFP.

“This will be my appeal to the entire international community, stressing the need not to contribute in one way or another to the escalation and expansion of violence and war in Gaza and the West Bank, or in this case in Lebanon,” he added.

Last Wednesday, Sanchez described the Israeli aggression on Lebanon as an invasion, calling on the international community to take action to stop it.
