After its rehabilitation, the educational complex reopened in Palmyra with a center for Russian language teaching
Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Abdel Hakim Hammad, and the Russian Deputy Minister of Education, Denis Gribov, inaugurated today in the city of Palmyra the educational complex that includes a center for teaching the Russian language.
Dr. Hammad explained that the Palmyra educational complex, which was affected by the attacks of the terrorist organization (ISIS), was rehabilitated in cooperation with Russian friends and named after Russian Lieutenant Fitch Provenko, who was martyred on the land of Palmyra, in appreciation of Russia’s standing and sacrifices alongside the Syrian Arab Army and its victory in the war on terror.
Hammad pointed out that the ministry is working to secure the requirements for teaching the Russian language in the schools of Syria in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Education, based on a specific educational methodology, in addition to holding training courses, in accordance with a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the two countries, explaining that the Russian curriculum is attended by a group of national experts and it is presented to the specialists of the Russian Cultural Center to ensure the highest quality, allowing our students to continue their education in Russian universities.
In turn, Gribov expressed his happiness to participate in the reopening of the educational complex in Palmyra, in addition to the opening of a platform for teaching the Russian language, through which participation in the educational program in Syria takes place, noting the importance of joint cooperation between the Syrian and Russian Ministries of Education to develop the educational process.
For his part, Director of Homs Education Walid Al-Mar’ie stated that the platform for teaching the Russian language in Palmyra currently includes 20 male and female students in age groups ranging from 13 to 16 years from various schools in the city, stressing the keenness of the Ministry of Education to improve the educational process in Palmyra, where so far the restoration and re-education has been carried out including the rehabilitation of 7 schools for basic, secondary and vocational education, comprising about 1,500 male and female students.
During the opening ceremony, the Folklore Troupe of the educational theater department in Homs, under the supervision of coach Rana al-Abdullah, presented paintings, artistic and folk dances, and Syrian and Russian patriotic songs.
