After its purification from terrorism, the village of Suha in countryside of Hama resumes  march of life

The village of Suha in the eastern countryside of Hama has been recovered after being purified of terrorism by the Syrian Arab Army. The return of the people to their homes and the rehabilitation of what was destroyed by terrorism contributed to the resumption of life, work and production in the village.

In statement to a SANA reporter, the mayor of Suha Hussein Al-Khaled stated that after the village was liberated from terrorism in 2017, its people gradually returned to the village. In parallel with that, the municipality, in cooperation with Hama Governorate and the concerned authorities, was keen to work to secure services in the village to ensure stability for the people. In this regard, the drinking water well and the sewage network in addition to a primary education school were equipped. The number of families returning to the village so far has reached about 234 families who have resumed their usual agricultural activity in the village.

Khaled Al-Khaled, a resident of the village, said, “We have returned to our homes after the return of security and safety to the village thanks to the Syrian Arab Army, and we have seen the restoration of a number of service facilities such as electricity, water and sanitation.”

Hamida Al-Mohammed, also from the village, said, “We returned to our village and our land, and today we plant, harvest and work with all our energy until we produce,  defying all the surrounding circumstances.” She called on the rest of the people to return to start over.

Director of the Department of Agriculture in Salamiyah City, Osama Zeidan, noted that the return of the people to the village played an important role in the recovery of agricultural production in the village, whose agricultural land area exceeds 60 thousand hectares. About 34 alternative solar energy units were installed to operate artesian wells and irrigate crops due to the lack of electricity, this in turn achieved a significant improvement in various types of winter and summer crops.

Farmer Issam Al-Hussein highlighted the significant positive repercussions of the solar energy units on agricultural production in the village, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and that farmers did not incur any costs after installing these units.

Women in the village of Suha improved their professional skills and were encouraged to enter the labor market to develop their financial and social status. A number of training courses for women were held  in the villages of Suha as a humanitarian and service-supportive initiative for them.

The two trainees, Abeer Al-Hussein and Nisreen Tahmaz, underlined the importance of these courses, which they had the opportunity to participate in free of charge. They considered these courses as an important first step on the road to professional rehabilitation for women after their return to their homes and the start of a new life filled with hope and giving through artistic works produced by women. These courses also play a pivotal role in creating a good experience that can help a woman support her husband in securing the family’s needs.
