After her brilliance in the Arab Championship at the Arab Athletics Championships… Aya Al-Rahiya is a promising athlete

Within a few years of practicing athletics, Aya has been able to record a distinguished presence in this game thanks to her strong will to achieve triumphs and her great ambition to win more medals.

The 19-year-old Aya, who is pursuing her studies at the Faculty of Arts in the Department of Russian Literature, managed to achieve two medals at the recent Arab Youth Championships in Tunisia. She hopes to win more medals in the coming days, which is not difficult, according to the supervisors and coaches of the player who prepare her for a sports champion project coming strongly to athletics.

Al-Rahiya told SANA that she started practicing athletics in 2018 by Coach Suleiman Attiya, and during the same year, she won the Republic Championship in the 100-meter race. “I was invited to join the national team in 2019 under the supervision of Coach Hani Al-Merhej, and then participated in the West Asian Championship for juniors in Lebanon. The Arab Championship in Tunisia was a strong start, during which I won the gold medal in the 400-meter race and the bronze medal in the 100-meter hurdles. These two medals gave me a great incentive to continue training and achieve more accomplishments for Syria, especially since there are important merits such as the Asian Championship,” she added.

Coach Hani Merhej is counting on Aya a lot in international forums and achieving more honorable results if she has the appropriate camps aimed at increasing experience and upgrading skills that help increase self-confidence and break the barrier of fear of competing with the champions of the continent and the world.
