After 40 years in the detention centers of the Israeli occupation, the Palestinian prisoner, Maher Younes, was released today, triumphing with his determination and solid will over the Israeli jailer.
Wafa Agency stated that the occupation authorities released Yunus, 61, from the village of Ara, inside the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, after spending 40 years in the occupation detention centers.
Yunus said in a message to the Palestinian people two days before his release: “Greetings to everyone who said I am Palestinian and free, I look forward to meeting you with love and loyalty, and I am waiting for that moment when I am free among you, after the days and years of my being behind bars- I am eager to join the masses.”
Maher Younes is one of the most prominent Palestinian militants. He was arrested by the Israeli occupation authorities on January 18, 1983, days after the arrest of his cousin, the liberated prisoner Karim Younes, who was also released by the occupation two weeks ago after 40 years spent in Israeli occupation detention centers.
