The General Authority for Forest Management and Development in AL Ghab , in cooperation with a number of Local associations NGOs in Hama Governorate, carried out a large-scale afforestation campaign in several stages to rehabilitate the wealth of the forestry that damaged by fires. In addition it offered sums of money for people whose lands and crops have been damaged.
The saplings were provided free by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Local associations, and all segments of society participated in planting them. The plants included various trees such as carob, olives, laurel, oak and oak pine.
The Director of Natural Resources at the Public Authority Authority for Management and Developmen in AL Ghab Engineer ‘Mohammad Fayez’ indicated the afforestation plan for this year is 340 hectares in several areas: Jorin, Shahatah, Frikeh, Aen al-Krum, Uqayba and Al-Mashal.
Fayez Muhammad confirmed that the authority has 500 thousand saplings ready for distribution this year, produced by the Salhab Forestry Nursery, indicating that the plan for next year amounts to 300 thousand forest trees.
It is noteworthy that the campaigns are continuing in Hama governorate under the care of the Ministry of Agriculture, which provides support and facilities for any local initiative of plants, agricultural machinery, and water tanks.
Tree Day this year is an opportunity for all members of the Syrian community to increase the green cover for homeland and protect it in the future.
