The Ministry of Culture will launch the opening ceremony of the Syrian Book Fair on Wednesday at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
The Library’s Director General Eyad Murshed told SANA that the fair will be held with the participation of 50 Syrian publishing houses, of which 11 are public and 39 are private.
The event will exhibit new books that cover the cultural, political, economic, social and intellectual fields, Murshed added.
He pointed out that the fair will also showcase books for children, noting the participation of 12 publishing houses specialized in this field.
According to Murshed, many cultural and artistic activities will be held on the sidelines of the fair, including the screening of six new films of Syrian production, two concerts as well as intellectual and cultural seminars in which a number of researchers, thinkers and writers take part.
Several books and poetry collections will also be signed on the sidelines of the fair.
