With the participation of 50 young men and women from Syria and Russia, the activities of the Syrian-Russian Youth Forum were launched Friday evening in Latakia. The Forum forms the base for more meetings that would contribute to strengthening the role of the youth in making decisions, advancing their societies, promoting human and national values, and creating positive change towards a better future.

Various topics, including the role of the media and social media in reporting news and their impact on young people’s thoughts and orientations, especially within the current circumstances, in addition to the concepts of citizenship, belonging and identity will be discussed. The importance of the family to build a balanced human being and a healthy and cohesive society will be the focus of lectures and dialogue workshops on the agenda of the forum, which continues until the 27th of February.

Darine Suleiman, President of the National Union of Syrian Students, explained that the forum is an important opportunity to strengthen relations of cooperation and friendship between Syria and Russia, exchange experiences and ideas and organize meetings and events for a healthy society that seeks to invest and sustainably develop young minds and achieve security and peace in the world.
