Activities of the Resistance Film Week kick off at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus

The activities of the Resistance Cinema Week, organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Lebanese Association of Arts (Resalat), kicked off last night  with a concert by the Syrian National Band for Arab Music led by Maestro Adnan Fathallah and the screening of the film “The Buried Secret” directed by Ali Ghafari.

The band presented songs of the resistance rooted in the conscience of the Syrians through a variety of combinations with which the audience interacted.

Dr. Lubana Mushouh, Minister of Culture, said in a speech during the opening: The resistance is a thought that we practice and a daily struggle against calls of despair and submission. Resistance has many forms that aim to stave off injustice and achieve the right. The minister stressed that the intellectual resistance is synonymous with and supportive of the field resistance and this intellectual resistance prepares the means to mature and produce awareness as it produces determination, faith, sacrifice, and loyalty. The minister indicated that cinema, which is one of the finest forms of expression, seeks a higher goal of perpetuating the values of resistance, and thanked the Lebanese association for its good cooperation and efforts to highlight the cultural event of resistance.

In turn, Muhammad Khafajah, director of the Resalat Association, thanked the Ministry of Culture and the General Film Institution for hosting the festival, stressing the importance of cooperation, which resulted in the establishment of the festival in this esteemed location, Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts. Khafajah stressed that Syria and Lebanon were united by one destiny, so they chose to resist the Israeli occupation and the takfiri groups, so the blood of the two peoples mixed, and the result was a great victory on this land. He indicated that these events are further evidence of the victory of Syria, which emerged from the battle, and will return stronger than ever, with the determination of the Syrian leadership and people.
