ACSAD provides aid, worth 3 million dollars, to 13,000 rural families in six provinces

On January 12, the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry lands “ACSAD” announced that it provided in-kind aid to 13,000 rural families, at a value of $ 3 million, which included agricultural equipment and improved wheat seed in six Syrian governorates.

The Director General of “ACSAD” Dr. Rafeeq Ali Saleh confirmed in a statement to SANA that the organization continues to provide technical and material support to the families affected by the crisis in Syria.

He said that the organization is seeking to improve the relief and development reality in Syria in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the Spanish Anti-Hunger Organization. ACSAD has implemented three relief projects during 2019 at a total value of three million dollars in the six Syrian governorates of “Daraa, Damascus Countryside, Aleppo, Raqqa, Hasakaand Deir Al-Zour”.

Saleh pointed out that the number of beneficiaries of these projects has reached 13065 families, pointing out that the organization provided technical support and production requirements for the targeted rural families.

Saleh pointed out that the aid also included the agriculture and livestock sectors as well as the families who do not have enough agricultural holdings to cultivate field crops.

He noted that the support was not limited only to providing production requirements, but also included training and guiding the families benefiting from these projects.

In this context, Saleh said that the organization carried out about 190 seminars attended by more than 3000 farmers and breeders, during which they were briefed on the integrated management of vegetables and grains production and herd management.

The organization also carried out in cooperation with partners 34 training courses attended by 1240 farmers and breeders of livestock, during which theoretical lectures and practical applications were presented.
