Cairo,(ST) – Participants in the workshop, held in cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACADS), discussed the joint projects between the two sides.
During the workshop held in Cairo, Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abdel Moneim El-Banna highlighted the important role ACSAD plays in reaching sustainable Arab agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions and the high confidence it has acquired. He stressed the importance of implementing more joint projects with ACSAD, Egypt and projects for the development of livestock and water harvesting.
The Director of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), Dr. Rafiq Ali Saleh, expressed his country’s readiness to contribute to achieving sustainable agricultural rise in Egypt and Arab countries, stressing the importance of cooperation between ACSAD, the Egyptian Desert Research Center and the Agricultural Research Centre in the field of water harvesting, water reservoirs, the resistance of creeping sand dunes in Siwa Oasis, the spread of drought-resistant varieties, the use of non-conventional water in agriculture and the development of ruminant productivity.
