ACSAD Confirms Promotion of Agricultural Development in Arab Countries

The Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Areas (ACSAD) Dr. Rafik Ali Saleh presented a report about the accomplishments of ACSAD in the recent period, the mighty efforts carried out by the Centre to achieve advanced results, stressing the continuation of the development of performance and the ability to implement and realize remarkable achievement to contribute to the promotion of agricultural development in the Arab countries.

Dr. Saleh headed a delegation to the Arab Center (ACSAD) in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee of Arab Joint Action, which was held recently at the General Secretariat of the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

Dr. Saleh added that ACSAD conducts achieving the completion of research, studies and projects in order to serve every Arab state, which reflects positively on the Arab citizens and improve their living conditions through increasing productivity and improving the quality of production.

 He noted that ACSAD had carried out all development projects assigned and issued by the Arab summit resolutions, referring to the lack of funding by the Arab funds and institutions in the areas of agricultural development.

“The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to stimulate employment and development which reflect positively on the Arab side, and what attracts the Arab citizen to pay attention to the Arab countries at the AL and its role in the region,” Dr. Saleh pointed out at the end of introducing his report.

For his part, His Excellency the Secretary General of the Arab League (AL), Ahmed Abo el -Gheit underlined the importance of activating the role of joint Arab action institutions, exerting efforts to stimulate communication for the development of performance and overcome obstacles to help the joint Arab action institutions in the performance of their missions, highlighting the activities and achievements in the areas of work.

Mr. Abo el –Gheit also referred to the most important points to bestressed in the future, and activating the role of the media and publishing everything related to business activities and achievements, and focusing on the revitalization of the roles played by the Arab League States through the technical arms in the economic and social sectors, asserting that the lack of funding to Arab institutions doesn’t contribute to the performance of fulfilling missions on the desired level of ambition.

He also stressed the teamwork and achievement of objectives in accordance with the sustainable development indicators, and works to strengthen the Arab thought, education and culture for the construction of the Arab human and works to develop the system of Arab thought.

During the meeting, participants discussed several topics including the most important role required by the joint Arab action institution, developing and activating the work of the Higher Coordinating Committee of joint Arab Action, the role required by the joint Arab action institutions to contribute to the implementation of sustainable development goals.
