Absence of accountability encourages Israel to commit more war crimes against the Palestinians

The Palestinian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Riad Mansour has stressed that the inaction of the international community and the absence of accountability have encouraged the Israeli occupation to commit more war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In letters to the UN Chief, the President of the Security Council and the Head of the UN General Assembly, Masour reiterated that the international consensus on the Palestinian issue requires, not only statements, but taking responsible, serious and tangible measures at all levels with the aim of putting an end to Israel’s impunity against accountability, ending the occupation and restoring the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, foremost of which is the right to self-determination and to establish the independent Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital pursuant to the international law and the UN relevant resolutions.

Mansour added that the Israeli occupation’s act of attacking Al-Aqsa Mosque, detaining dozens of Palestinians and expelling the worshippers while allowing hundreds of Jewish settlers storming into it, uncovers the occupation’s plans to seize and judaize the mosque within the framework of its scheme to evacuate Al-Quds from the Palestinian presence.

He pointed out that the occupation plan to demolish 12 villages in Masafer Yatta area, south of the West Bank city of Al-Khalil, to establish 4,000 settlement units undermines the geographical connection between the Palestinian cities, stressing that this serves the occupation’s annexation plans in a grave violation of international law and the resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
