Abkhazia stresses its will to enhance economic cooperation with Syria

Deputy Prime Minister of Abkhazia, Minister of Economy  Christina Ozgan has affirmed her country’s resolve to boost cooperation with Syria in the fields of agriculture, tourism and Transport.

In a statement on Friday on the sidelines of the Petersburg International Economic Forum, Ozgan said that Syria recognized the Republic of Abkhazia on May 29th, 2018 and the two countries established diplomatic ties in the same year.

She added that the presidents of the two countries signed a friendship and cooperation agreement as well as basic documents that specified cooperation between Syria and Abkhazia.

She clarified that during the recent visit of the Abkhazian delegation, led by President Aslan Bzania, to Syria, several cooperation agreements in the domains of tourism and transport were signed.

 Also, she pointed out, Damascus hosted the first meeting of the Abkhazian-Syrian joint Committee for Economic, Trade, scientific, Technical and Cultural cooperation with the aim of implementing the signed agreements on agricultural cooperation and on the mutual importation of agricultural products.
