Abdullahian: Western Countries Did Not Present Positive Proposal in Vienna

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed his country’s seriousness and good intentions to reach an agreement through the Vienna negotiations in order to revive the nuclear agreement, noting that Western countries are evading those negotiations and have not yet presented any constructive or positive proposal.

During a telephone conversation with the European Union’s foreign policy official on Wednesday, Abdullahian criticized the positions and statements of the three European countries and their behavior of taking negative political and media positions. The Iranian Minister said: “These positions further complicate the situation and slow down the consensus process, describing the positions of Russia and China as realistic and constructive”.

Abdullahian said that Tehran has always cooperated closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and in this context, a delegation from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will visit Vienna to hold talks with IAEA officials.

Minister Abdullahian explained that the Iranian nuclear program is completely peaceful in nature, but raising nuclear concerns is directly related to the complete lifting of the embargo measures related to the nuclear agreement. The Iranian Foreign Minister doubted the willingness of the Western side to lift the embargo.

During the past few days, the seventh round of negotiations took place between Iran and the Four Plus One Group to revive the nuclear agreement signed with Iran in 2015, and a new round is scheduled for this week.
