Abdullahian, Sousan discuss ways to develop Syrian-Iranian relations in various fields

On January 9th, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Dr. Ayman Sousan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates discussed developments in Syria and the region, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in various fields.

During their meeting in Tehran, the two sides stressed the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries and the need to develop and strengthen these relations in the confrontation of the challenges facing both Syria and Iran, including the blockade and the unjust sanctions.

Dr. Soussan expressed Syria’s appreciation for the support provided by Iran, reiterating Syria’s standing by Tehran in the face of the renewed Western campaign against it. He expressing Syria’s full confidence in Iran’s victory.

In turn, Minister Abdollahian affirmed his country’s continous support for Syria, explaining that the two countries are in the same trench in the face of Western schemes and foreign intervention attempts in the region.

The two ministers agreed to continue contacts and coordination in a way that serves the common goals and the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Dr. Soussan also discussed with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, various issues of common interest.

The two meetings were attended by the Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, Ambassador Qusai Mustafa, Director of the Asia Department, and Counselor Ihab Hamed from the Foreign Minister’s Office.
