Tehran (ST): Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian affirmed that his country is a trustworthy and influential partner in the field of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the BRICS group, as it enjoys a geo-political status and an unparalleled geographical location.
The IRNA news agency quoted Abdullahian as saying in a speech during the closing ceremony of the Iran-BRICS meeting “Prospects of Partnership and Cooperation”, which was held today hosted by the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran, “Most of the political and economic alliances in the world give them the aspect of diplomacy, with the aim of enhancing competence and obtaining privileges during international negotiations,” noting the role of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77.
Abdullahian pointed out that the BRICS group embodies real joint efforts on the political and economic levels, and thus has the power of influence regionally and internationally, considering that expanding the scope of BRICS will give it more international confidence and power of influence and thus the desire of countries to join it.
The Iranian Foreign Minister considered that the efforts being made within the framework of the BRICS group to reduce trade costs among members, including the use of national currencies, is an essential step by this economic group.
