Tehran – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called on the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states to coordinate efforts to confront the Zionist regime‘s aggressions on Gaza.
In a meeting with Ugandaˈs State Minister for Regional Affairs, AsumanKiyingi here on Tuesday, he said extremism and terrorism were the two major problems people in the Middle East and Africa were facing.
He expressed regret that certain groups are using the name of Islam to carry out actions against Muslims which are in fact engineered and guided by the Zionist regime and certain Western countries.
Amir-Abdollahian said such measures certainly safeguard the interests of the Zionist regime and allow the West to plunder the region’s energy resources.
The Ugandan minister, for his part, referred to growing extremism as Africa’s main problem and called for mutual and regional cooperation to resolve the problem.
EC chairman stresses importance of Muslims unity
Meanwhile,Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani here on Tuesday termed unity as Muslimsˈ most important principle.
He made the remarks in a gathering attended by several Iranian Sunni religious, political and cultural figures.
He condemned any move to sow discord among Muslims and called on world Muslims to consolidate their unity.
Referring to the current developments in the occupied Palestine and the Zionist regime‘s atrocities in Gaza, he warned the Islamic countries against fanning the flames of sectarian conflicts.
Hashemi Rafsanjani further condemned the US President Barak Obama for his support for the Zionist regime‘s savage attacks on defenseless Palestinians in Gaza.
Judiciary chief criticizes powersˈ double standard towards human rights
On the other hand,Judiciary Chief SadeqAmoliLarijani on Tuesday criticized dominant powersˈ double standard approach towards human rights around the world.
Addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the ˈIslamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Dayˈ, he censured manipulation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by world powers and using it as a political tool.
The so-called human rights advocates have changed the UDHR to a worthless piece of paper, Larijani added.
He underlined that massacre of Gaza people by the Zionist regime is a real test for claimants of human rights.
Deploring the US for its 225 million dollar aid package to Israel, the cleric said it was disgraceful for certain claimants of human rights to reward the Zionist regime for its crimes.
In the meantime, the so-called human rights advocates censure Iran for being undemocratic spite the fact that 30 free elections have been held in the country over the past three decades, Larijani said.
The ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic corps including Muslim ambassadors and high ranking Iranian officials.
August 5 was proposed by Iran as ˈIslamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Dayˈ and unanimously endorsed by the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the 35th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Kampala, Uganda.
