Abdollahian: Punishing the Zionist entity is a must

Tehran (ST) – Iranian Minister if Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, affirmed his country’s determination to punish the Zionist entity for its attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, stressing that targeting diplomatic sites is a violation of international law that requires legitimate defence.

Abdollahian said during a phone call today with the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, that: “When the Zionist entity endangers the immunity of people and diplomatic sites in violation of international law, then legitimate defence with the aim of punishing the aggressor becomes a necessity.”

He stressed that Iran’s foreign policy was and is still based on avoiding tension.

“Iran expects Germany to clearly condemn the latest crime committed by the Zionist entity,” he added, wondering if a similar missile attack occurred on a diplomatic site in Ukraine, would the reaction of America and Europe be the same?

Regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, Abdollahian called on Germany not to repeat the baseless accusations against Iran and to defend the rights of thousands of women and children in Gaza and other parts of the world.

For her part, Baerbock said the German government was and is still trying to end the war in Gaza.
