Damascus (ST): In order to reach a unified application at the national level of the updated protocols approved by the Ministry of Health, and to publish and circulate them, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the National Committee for Cancer Control and the Syrian Association of Oncologists, held a workshop for guides and standards for introducing the updated national drug treatment protocols for tumors 2022.
The workshop, which was held today at the Reda Saeed Conference Hall at the University of Damascus, seeks to set standards for the application of specific medicines and the foundations of rationalizing their consumption and to determine the next steps to reach the application of standard protocols in all oncology centers and to determine the timetable for them.
In a speech during the workshop, Health Minister Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash explained that the ministry is keen to develop unified national treatment protocols that keep pace with global developments related to chemical, radiological and hormonal treatments with the aim of providing multiple treatment options that improve the chances of patients’ recovery while improving the lifestyle.
Dr. Al-Ghobash underlined the importance of the workshop to get acquainted with the latest developments at the local and global levels for the management of tumors so that they can be applied in the national treatment protocols, in addition to creating permanent opportunities for doctors and health workers to communicate and exchange experiences among them and to develop their performance in the field of diagnosis and treatment, which is ultimately reflected in the level and quality of the health services provided for patients according to the maximum available possibilities.
