A thousand children die everyday due to the continuous Saudi aggression, says Health Ministry

SANA’A, (ST) – The Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population Taha al-Mutawakil emphasized that the health sector in Yemen is one of the most civil sectors affected by the Saudi aggression and the siege imposed by it, indicating that international organizations have not done their part in meeting the needs of this sector in light of the unfair siege.

Al-Massera website quoted Al-Mutawakel as saying during a press conference held today in the capital, Sanaa: “We are facing a massacre carried out by the aggression against Yemeni children, as no fewer than 1,000 children die every day, while 6,000 women die as a result of complications of pregnancy and childbirth.” He explained that there is genocide, for an entire generation caused by the Saudi aggression.

The Minister of Health called for the opening of Sana’a International Airport to mitigate the impact of the health and humanitarian catastrophe, stating that 93 percent of medical equipment went out of service or exceeded its life span, indicating that the Ministry of Health had provided its needs to international organizations in terms of equipment, medicine, and medical staff since the beginning of the year and informed them of the scale of the catastrophe that Yemen was experiencing. Only19 percent of Yemeni needs were covered.

The continuous Saudi aggression since 2015 has destroyed the Yemeni health sector, which led to the spread of epidemics and diseases and the death of tens of thousands due to the lack of medicines and the siege which was not spared even children.
