A third ship carrying high-quality Syrian phosphate is preparing to depart from Tartous Port for Romania
The third ship, scheduled to carry 30,000 metric tons of high-quality local phosphate, is preparing to depart from Tartous Port for Romania immediately after the completion of loading operations, which are proceeding efficiently, taking into account safety and marine storage requirements.
Alloush Director of local snd International Relations stated that phosphate is being packed from the Khneifis mines in the Homs countryside, which is considered one of the richest areas in Syria in phosphate resources. He noted that the phosphate is transported via equipped trucks to the port of Tartous, where qualitative analysis and testing are carried out. Then, it is unloaded and loaded directly onto the ship using modern machinery that takes into account environmental safety and operational efficiency.
Alloush spoke about the importance of this step, which represents a real beginning for revitalizing the economy, opening the doors to international trade cooperation, and activating the country’s natural resources. This will positively impact the national economy and job opportunities, and confirm Syria’s return to its regional economic role.
He continued: The Authority has received a number of new offers and requests from foreign countries after the resumption of exports, especially after the state regained control over this strategic sector. Demand is constantly increasing due to the quality and competitive prices.
According to Alloush, Syrian phosphate is characterized by its high percentage of pure phosphorus and low impurities, making it globally desirable in the fertilizer and industrial phosphate industries. He emphasized that it is a strategic element in supporting agricultural production and chemical industries, and is an important national economic resource.
He concluded that the resumption of import and export operations restores the port of Tartous to its vital position as a strategic commercial facility, supports maritime transport infrastructure, and strengthens Syria’s position as a key maritime corridor in the Mediterranean region.
