The Al-Damina Al-Sharqiya Church band on Tuesday presented a theatrical performance, entitled “Failure creates Success”, at the Cultural Center in Homs Central Prison. A group of female prison inmates attended the performance.
The play, which is both a comedy and focuses on social interaction, carried several purposeful messages, presented by 16 young men and women of different ages, to be their first start in the world of theater.
Major Heba Hassan, an officer in the Rehabilitation, Guidance, and Social Welfare Department in Homs Central Prison stated that the theatrical work presented today, is a purposeful work that has a positive impact on the people inside the prison.
She also pointed out the importance of these cultural activities and the psychological impact they leave on the inmates.
As for the founder and supervisor of the theatrical team, Father Abdullah Qamuz, priest of the Church of Saints Georgius and Anthony in the eastern village of Damina indicated that this group was recently established and is made up of the children of the education center in the church.
He highlighted that the work focuses on the Syrian family and the necessity of the cohesion of its members, accepting each other, as well as cooperating to solve the problem.
The author of the work and the young band director, Mtanios Bashish, said: The show seeks to convey the idea that failure creates success. He highlighted that it is important for the family to be cohesive and its members able to accept each other’s mistakes.
The Director of the show, Elias Obaid pointed out that young people have harnessed all their energies and talents today, in order to serve the goals of the show, communicate important social ideas through it. He added that this experience will be followed by several other experiences.
