A Syrian youth will take part in the regional conference of the International Astronomical Union

Among a group of prominent scientists and young people who are interested in space and astronomy, young Nour Eddin Nabhan a mechatronics engineering student of “Al-Manara” University, managed to reserve a seat in the sixth regional conference of the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) for the Middle East and Africa states due to be held in Egypt.

Passion for basic sciences such as physics and mathematics, along with his interest in philosophy in addition to his parents’ support motivated the young man to develop his logical thinking skills.

He told a SANA correspondent about the first scientific event, which he participated in as a speaker, when he was sixteen years old, where he gave a lecture at the National Center for the Distinguished.

Regarding his other participations in world scientific events, Nabhan said that when he was seventeen years old, he was the youngest participant in the Fifth Regional conference of IAU for the Middle East and Africa, which was held remotely via Zoom platform due to the Corona pandemic, in addition to his participation in a speech on the global “TED” platform in 2021 under the title “The Cosmic Image”, in which he talked about the development of civilizations’ thinking about the universe.

Nabhan is currently preparing to participate in the sixth edition of the IAU’s Regional Conference for the Middle East and Africa with a research paper on discussing the possibilities of the emergence and development of civilizations and the stages of the emergence of life from single cells, reaching civilizations with multiple planets or galaxies by adopting mathematical modeling.

He stressed that the conference is of great importance as it is a global platform for sharing inspiring ideas, exchanging opinions and experiences, and presenting new research that will contribute to the development of space and astronomy sciences in the future.

Nabhan indicated that he is the first student to publish in “Al-Manara” University Research magazine and aspire to obtain a master’s degree and a doctorate in astrophysics after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

He explained that his experience in the world of teaching, which recently culminated in giving educational sessions to students of the Center for Physics and Applied Sciences at the beginning of 2021, motivated him to derive new ideas in the field of physics, astronomy and mathematics.

His scientific interests and his great passion for physics did not prevent Nabhan from following up on his love for drawing, especially synthetic and cubist drawing, influenced by the prominent artists in this field.

He said that he is keen on participating in various art exhibitions in addition to writing science fiction stories in English.

Nabhan concluded his speech by saying: “Syria is rich in young talented minds and scientific energies which are in need of care and support” calling on young scientists to enjoy self-confidence to give their work a personal feature, whether it is an artistic or scientific product.
