A Syrian youth designs a technology that generates electrical power when walking over it

With the aim of searching for new sources of electrical energy production, student Alaa Nassar designed a technology implemented on floors that converts kinetic and mechanical energy into electrical energy by walking on foot.

How did he come up with this idea!?

The idea came after he studied in a vocational high school specializing in electrical technology and learned how to deal with electronic circuit simulation programs and how to draw engineering and electronic diagrams.

The young man Nassar, who continued his studies at the Technical Institute for Solar Energy at the University of Tartous, and is currently studying communications technology at the Virtual University, explained to SANA News Agency that both kinetic and mechanical energy were used to generate electrical power by walking, though designing and constructing a floor used in public and private places crowded with people.

How does this design work !?

Nassar explained that the principle of the technology’s work depends on pressure being put on the mechanical body if anyone passes over this floor, after which electrical power is produced. The more people walk over this body, the more electricity is produced., He also pointed out that the technology can be used in the “private and public” sectors, such as the main doors to circuit entrances, government offices, universities, malls, banks, and sidewalks of major public roads.

Nassar added that one step, when walking, generates approximately 3 watts of electricity that can be stored in batteries.

It is noteworthy that the project was honored within the “Invention and Development” workshop held by the University of Damascus on the 11th of last July, and will participate in the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention in its 21st edition in 2023.
