A Syrian young Pianist Wins the First Place in the Seventh International Competition for Young Composers in Moscow
Young SyrianWade’e Nahhal, who boasts of an exceptional musical talent, won the first place in the seventh international competition for young composers “Twenty-first Century Performance .. Initiatives … Achievements” in Moscow.
The 13-year old Wade’e , who is studying at “Mahmoud Al-Ajjan” Conservatory of Music in Lattakia, told SANA that this competition included many categories and specializations , indicating that his first place came through performing two musical pieces, the first for Mozart “Sonata No. 6 The First Movement” and the second piece of his composition entitled “ When Syria cries, ” through which he expressed the pain of the war on his homeland.
Regarding the piece which he composed, Nahhal underlined that he tried through it to convey the suffering of the Syrian people from the ravages of war and the repercussions of the harsh conditions on children and adolescents. This appeared in his mind as musical notes and then he worked to transform it through his piano into music.
The young pianist expressed his happiness at receiving this award, as it encouraged him to participate in international competitions, enhanced the spirit of competition among musicians, in addition to the fact that he raised the name of Syria high in cultural and musical forums.
He thanked his supervising professors for developing his talent, in particular the prominent musician Professor Hamsa Sulehi Al-Wadi and the musician Aya Al-Arsuzi.
Nahhal began playing the piano at the age of five with the support of his family and he is currently a sixth-year student at “Mahmoud Al-Ajjan” Conservatory for Music affiliated to the Ministry of Culture.
Wade’e Nahhal’s career is rich in musical accomplishments at the level of Syria and the international level , the most important of which is achieving the first place of the category “B” in the 5th Sulhi Al-Wadi International Piano Competition, the prize for playing with the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, and the second prize in the National Piano Competition in its first version.
