A Syrian man seeks to collect his rare heritage collectibles holdings in a museum

Thousands of rare heritage pieces and collectibles were collected by the young Khaled Matar  with the aim of   establishing  a museum in his  town Al-Qurayya in Al-Sweidah  Governorate. 

The 24-year-old man told SANA correspondent that his experience in  working in the field of ancient Arab swords for about 20 years has made him   highly attracted to collect  heritage collectibles since 2010.

Khaled’s traditional  various pieces  include ancient weapons used by ancestors, copper and oriental artifacts agricultural and harvest tools, food preservation, weights, lighting lamps, , radios, straw dishes, ancient coins, natural leather that were used on the Silk Road, and many other such pieces.

Collecting his pieces, according to khaledtook a lot of time, effort and money, and he was helped by the young man, Yazan Abu Moghdeb, who is interested in heritage.He indicated that he constantly adds many pieces to them due to the constant demand by those who are interested in heritage  from different segments of society.

The Syrian man stressed the importance of introducing the ancestors’ lives , which was full of fatigue and hardship , in addition to their  heritage traditions and customs  to the current generations

Khaled considered that collecting and preserving heritage pieces is an affirmation of adherence to the Syrian local heritage that represents our identity.

According to the young man, Yazan Abu Moghdeb, Khaled Matar supports many people who are interested in heritage with their exhibitions and participation in festivals. He also presents many pieces to film a number of popular songs for free.
