A Syrian craftsman obtains the first title deed for a heritage masterpiece in Syria

The General Union of Craftsmen granted the first title deed to craftsman Muhammad al-Kajak for a creative masterpiece, which is a ball of shell inlaid with silver and gold on which verses of poetry about Damascus were written. This deed is considered the first title deed for a heritage masterpiece in Syria.

Secretary of the Board of Trainers of the Dummar Central Incubator for traditional arts  CISTA , Adnan Tanbekji, said in a statement to SANA that the goal of the title deed is to protect the legal rights of the craftsman by documenting its ownership in the records of the General Federation of Craftsmen, and the records of  CISTA in addition to  protecting  the financial rights of the maker and owner of the masterpiece.

Tanbekji added that  this masterpiece will  obtain additional value when it is displayed in international forums and exhibitions, and it is one of the most important documents that contribute to the acceptance of the international marketing of this masterpiece, and documents the Syrian origin of the heritage masterpiece and glorifies its Syrian craftsman, indicating  the ownership will be transferred from one person to another and the name of the first maker remains, who is the Syrian craftsman.

He  necessitated  the importance of implementing this step  , especially after the years of the unjust war against Syria, during which many  artifacts were stolen.

Tenbakji explained that the title deed grants the designer of the masterpiece a certificate ratified by the General Union of Craftsmen as a first step, indicating  the craftsman can attest this certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates  in case he intends to travel.
