A Sudanese agricultural delegation confirms from the Izra Research Station in Daraa the importance of linking technical departments and agricultural institutions in Arab countries
Dr. Fatima Mohamed Rahma, Director General of International Relations at the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, stressed the need for cooperation between her country and the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands “ACSAD” by linking technical departments and various agricultural institutions in the Arab countries and ensuring the progress of the Center regionally and internationally.
During her visit at the head of an agricultural technical delegation to the Center’s Izra research station, Rahma pointed out the importance of research and experiments carried out at the station, in addition to laboratories, programs and research for grain, sheep and goat breeding, plant production, pistachio and olives, pointing to the need to benefit from the ACSAD Center for its research programs on the land.
The Deputy Director-General of ACSAD Center, Dr. Ayham Al-Homsi, gave a presentation on the reality of the station and the research carried out in its field of work, whether with regard to crops and fruitful trees or increasing the reproductivity of sheep and goats, the laying hens project and the biogas production unit, indicating that the Izra research station is an essential pillar for ACSAD Center to conduct research and studies that are applicable in all Arab countries due to the prevailing climate in the station.
For their part, ACSAD experts working at the Izra Research Station reviewed the reality of work and prospects for expanding cooperation with Sudan in the fields of the grain technology laboratory, preservative agriculture, the fodder laboratory, the genetic complex for some varieties of pistachios and olives, livestock programs, genetic improvement for small ruminants in the Arab countries, the artificial insemination laboratory, embryo transfer, fruitful trees nursery and biogas production unit.
