The Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Syria in cooperation with the General Union of Syrian and Palestinian Visual Artists organized a fine art exhibition in solidarity with Gaza in the People’s Hall today in Damascus. The exhibition included a solidarity stand.
The Iranian Cultural Advisor Amer Rida Esmati told SANA: “This exhibition comes within the framework of our support for the Palestinian cause to declare our solidarity with the Palestinian people. We consider ourselves the owners of the cause and feel all the suffering that the Palestinian people are suffering from”.
Director General of the Al Quds International Foundation/Syria, Dr. Khalaf Al Muftah, said:” Art and artists have had their own way of monitoring the scene, and this was evident in the paintings of the exhibition today, which depicted the heroism of the Palestinian people in addition to the extent of criminality the Israeli enemy has reached. Thus, art documented this historical moment.
The artist Mahmoud Al Khalili, who participated in the exhibition with a number of paintings, said: “Fine art has embodied this conflict for 75 years. The painting may differ from what it was in some symbols, but it agrees on two things: first; the extent of brutality of this usurping occupying entity. Second; the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in their land. Accordingly, the paintings declare hope and herald imminent victory.
The visual artist, Muhammad Al-Raqoui, a former detainee in the Israeli occupation prisons, said: His painting today expresses the Palestinian people’s adherence to their land, and it is also a tribute to the martyrs and those who are steadfast in the Palestinian land.
Visual artist Hanan Ibrahim explained that the exhibition came to express our adherence to the Palestinian cause, and that the Palestinian heritage is present in the subject of her paintings today as it is an integral part of the Palestinian identity.
