In coordination with a number of Arab communities residing in Syria, the Iraqi National Forum organized today, Tuesday the 8th of March 2022 a solidarity stand in Jaramana, rural Damascus, to demand the return of Syria to the League of Arab States.
In a message addressed to the Arab summit conference to be held in Algeria, delivered by the representative of the Iraqi community in Syria, Hatem Al-Darawish Al-Taie, the representative said: ‘Syria was, is, and will remain an Arab incubator present in all fields.” Al-Taie added: “We do not want an Arab League that adopts a policy of exclusion and discrimination, and everyone who agrees with these policies is among the enemies of the Arab nation…These are our demands. We, the Arab peoples, are the source of authority. There are no leaders without people.”
In his speech, the media coordinator of the National Forum, Dr. Musab al-Dulaimi, indicated that Syria’s return to the League is a popular demand, and it is a sincere expression of cohesion between the Arabs and their brothers, the brave Syrian Arab people who are still fighting the forces of darkness and international terrorism until the decisive victory is achieved.
The representative of Palestine Bassem Salam stressed the necessity of Syria’s return to its seat within the League of Arab States because of the effective and influential role of Syria in the Arab decision-making and Syria’s being a founding member of the League.
The head of the Somali community, Sheikh Dawn, said in his speech: “We demand the return of Syria to the League because we know that there are no Arabs or an Arab League without Syria. Therefore, we direct our message to all Arab countries because Damascus is the capital of Arabism and the capital of every Arab.”
The representative of the Yemeni community, Muhammad Naji al-Awlaqi, called in his speech on the Arab people to march in solidarity with Syria. Al-Awlaqi further called on the Arab summit to be held in Algeria to reverse the unjust decision to suspend Syria’s membership in the League. Al-Awlaqi said: “Syria is the beating heart of the Arab nation and is the first line of defense for the Palestinian cause. This is while the Secretary-General of the Sudanese community, Muhammad Adam, called for Syria to return to its vanguard and natural position in the Arab League.
