A solidarity stand by the labor unions in Damascus in support of the Palestinian resistance

The General Federation of Trade Unions organized a solidarity stand in support of the Palestinian resistance condemning the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the people of the Gaza Strip.

Today, hundreds of workers gathered in front of the headquarters of the Labor Union in Damascus, and stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people, chanting slogans denouncing the Israeli aggression and raising the flag of Palestine and the resistance. They stood to say their word to their brothers in Palestine that,” we are with you and that we will not stand silent in the face of these massacres committed by the occupation in Gaza. We, the workers of Damascus, have come to express to the whole world that the Syrian people have dedicated themselves since birth to the Palestinian cause, to support and liberate it.”

Syriatimes interviewed some of the participants in this solidarity stand.

Rami Shehadat, head of the trade union committee for water resources in Damascus and its countryside, stated to Syriatimes : “What is happening in Palestine is a crime. Palestine is  Arab land occupied by an enemy that does not respect any international law or United Nations treaties. It is the Israeli enemy that follows the law of the jungle. Israel believes that by possessing a powerful arsenal it can commit massacres without deterrence from anyone, but the Palestinian resistance stands guard against this aggression on Gaza. We have sent a message to our Palestinian brothers during this stand that we, as a people, leadership, party organizations, and unions, will do everything necessary to stop this Israeli aggression and liberate Palestine.”

Dr. Yanal Ahmed Al-Qudsi, Researcher at the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, stated:” we came today to stand as union workers  in solidarity with Gaza to prove and explain to the entire world that from Syria comes the word of truth and that the Palestinian issue is the first and last word of truth in the Arab world. It is our cause for which we came. Today we have come to say that Palestinian resistance is the only option to end this aggression, which only knows the language of killing, bombing, starvation and siege by targeting defenseless civilians, including children, women and the elderly. We have come to say to Israel that you are defeated and Palestine will be free and independent.”

Ahmed Qassem from the Syrian Oil Company said, “We have come to stand in righteousness with our people in Palestine and the resistance, because resistance is an approach in Syria and we are part of the Palestinian resistance, which is the heart of the homeland, and victory is coming, God willing.”

Milia Isber, a journalist in Tishreen Newspaper, said:”We, as Syrians, congratulate the resistance on this victory. The resistance, which was able to move from a state of defense to a state of attack, was able to penetrate into the occupied territories. When we stand in solidarity with Palestine, it is as if we are standing in solidarity with ourselves, because Palestine and Syria are one heart, one hand, and one cause. We came to say that the Israeli occupation lost in the final blow on October 7, when it suffered a major defeat that it had not expected. Therefore, its response to the Palestinians was not a war, but rather revenge, by attacking civilians, destroying institutions, and attacking journalists. This enemy is trying to eliminate the word and is trying to prevent the true picture from reaching the world, so today we stood in solidarity to convey our voice to the world that we were and will remain supportive of the Palestinian cause. Palestine is the compass from which we cannot deviate.”
