A silver medal and advanced ranks for students of the National Center for the Distinguished in Mathematical Modeling Championship in Russia

Students from the National Center for the Distinguished won a silver medal in the mathematical modeling test, and the second rank in the optimal solution test in the mathematical modeling championship organized by Russia “remotely” during the period between the 27th of last October and the 4th of this November.

The Excellence and Creativity Authority stated in a statement, today, that the first team, which included students: Anas Ali Miya, Shadi Nidal Al-Hassan, Ghadeer Mohsen Ahmed and Jaafar Abdel-Latif Sadiq, won the silver medal in the overall evaluation of the mathematical modeling championship, and second place in the modeling tests and the optimal solution within the modeling competition.

The second team, which included students Ali Younis Abbas – Zain Al-Abidin Aqeel Al-Fay – Hanna Fadi Hanna and Ward Muhammad Al-Shaqouf won first place in the mathematical modeling test.

The Authority indicated that the Syrian participation in the tournament was preceded by training and selection tests within the National Center for Excellence that simulated the stages and categories of the international competition, through which two teams were selected out of 5 teams.

It is noteworthy that the National Center for Excellence won two bronze medals in this championship last year, which Russia organized remotely with the participation of 30 countries from around the world.

Mathematical modeling has its importance as the art of translating the behavior of a system through mathematical language, by the use of mathematical modeling to address real-life problems, whether in mathematics or in other sciences, through transforming them into a mathematical problem that can be treated mathematically and solved, to finally choosing the optimal solution to the problem at hand.
